Dr. Richie was born and raised here in Laurens County on a family farm. He graduated from West Laurens High School in 2000 where he was a member of the WLHS Raider Brigade and played baseball. Dr. Richie went to Mercer University for his undergraduate degree in Psychology and performed in the jazz band. He graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Dr. Richie has practiced in Laurens County since graduating with the exception of a year in which he also worked at the emergency clinic in Warner Robins. Dr. Richie’s primary interest in veterinary medicine is soft-tissue surgery. In his spare time, Dr. Richie enjoys, hunting and shooting traditional archery.
Dr. Sam was raised in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia where she grew up with a dream of becoming a veterinarian from the age of 6 and playing soccer all the way through her first year of college. She graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 as a member of the Phi Zeta Honor Society. After graduation, Dr. Sam started her career at Ocmulgee Veterinary Clinic in Eastman, GA where she still works part-time today. Her main interests in veterinary medicine are internal medicine, mainly endocrinology, and ultrasound. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Sam still plays soccer and enjoys DIY crafts and decoration (several examples of which you can see throughout the clinic).
Dr. Richie and Dr. Sam have three beautiful children; Hudson, Colt, and Collins who you very well may hear and see around the clinic often and who keep them busy outside of the office. They also have 3 dogs (Tilly, Jolene, and Booth), two cats (Wilbur and Julie), two donkeys (Linus and Lucy), and three goats (Patrick, Evie, and Dottie).
Shonda Franks has been with MGVC since it made its debut back in 2019. She has a bounty of farm animals, as well as a bottle raised cat, Twilight, a total ham of a shepherd, Bear, and a bouncy chi-chi, Winter. As being one of our most experienced technicians, Shonda loves improving the lives of clients and patients as best she can. Assisting in surgery is one of her many joys of the field. When she isn’t working, she might be showing horses, attending choir practice, or spending time with her family.
Samantha Wells started her journey with MGVC in 2019. She has always dreamed of being a veterinarian, and she hopes to go as far as she can in veterinary medicine. She has 1 dog, Winifred Jean, and 2 cats, Salem and Donut. She loves being able to learn new things every day, but she particularly enjoys surgery and parvovirus cases. When not at work, you’ll definitely find her picking up a coffee and spending time with family!
Katlynn Chapman has been a part of MGVC since 2019. She has a long history in veterinary medicine, and she loves being able to thrive and grow in our clinic. She and her husband have 2 dogs, Huckleberry Asher and Jolene Elise, and 2 cats, Chevy Lee and Nissie Renae. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is watching and being able to help a patient progressively improve through treatment. As well as being one of our goofiest members, she is an old soul at heart. She loves to bake and crochet in her free time. She and her husband are expecting their first child in July 2022, and they couldn’t be more excited.
Kaitlin Spivey joined our team in 2021. She is very energetic and friendly, which is good when you have 3 dogs, Apollo, Buddy, and Cooper. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is building relationships. She loves watching as our patients grow throughout the years. Outside of work, she likes to go hiking or to the beach in the summer. She always surrounds herself with her friends whenever she can. Before working with us, she completed an internship with the Georgia Aquarium where she worked with whale sharks, manta rays, and a variety of other sea creatures
Emily Myers is our newest member, and she is eager to learn. She started with us back in 2021, and she’s determined to hold every puppy that walks through our doors. She loves expanding her knowledge about veterinary medicine. She owns Cash, the most energetic Boykin Spaniel you’ve every seen. When she isn’t learning something new, you can catch her shopping in town or spending time with her friends. She hopes to begin a veterinary technician program in the near future!
Brandon Montgomery joined our team in 2019. He has a very mischievous, yet sweet, black lab named Rocco. He loves greeting our clients and patients throughout the day, and he always makes them feel welcome and at home. Despite his outgoing and friendly personality, he admits to being shy. When he isn’t helping or consoling clients, you can find him at boutiques, church, or catching up on the latest murder mysteries.
Kim Stephens has been a part of MGVC since 2021. You can find her alongside Brandon, and boy are they a duo! She has 2 dogs, Waldo and Xena. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is meeting clients and their fur babies while establishing relationships for the long haul. When she’s not working, she loves enjoying time with her family outdoors. Grooming is also one of her many specialities!
